Carpet tiles

Carpet tiles are ideal for all areas where you need a stylish, hardwearing flooring that is economical and practical.

What are Carpet tiles?

Carpet tiles have been around for over 50 years and were designed originally as an alternative to traditional broadloom carpets. It was only later that carpet tiles were found to be useful in the office environment due to their hard-wearing construction. Carpet tiles are created by using a Secondary Backed Carpet which is made up of the surface yarn and the primary backing and then applying a stiff tile backing to the primary backing. Once cured, the sheet material is cut to size. The European dimension is commonly 50cms x 50cms which is four tiles per square metre, and the American size is 18 inches x 18 inches which are four tiles per square yard.

There are also some Fibre Bonded carpet tiles available which are generally more economical in cost but still very hard-wearing. The backing is usually a bituminous material, but there are others available including felt which gives added comfort underfoot and can make corridors quieter in high traffic areas.

A modern outlook also gives off a more professional identity which can increase clientèle trust in you as a company. As a client gains more trust in your abilities you are more likely to receive more work and gain a greater market share with increased profit ratios. A small change in your surroundings for your staff could be the key to your success.

What styles are available to me?

Carpet tile design has changed in recent years with many new styles, traditional styles like solid colours, dual-tone mottled finishes are still readily available, but there is a shift towards a more contemporary design language. Modern designs with random designs can be blended as one piece of material, creating a seamless finish and cuts down on waste materials too. Textures have become far more popular, creating different surface appearances and can feature 2 or 3 of these textures on one tile making a dramatic statement. Stripes are trendy at the moment, and Some of the stripe ranges are suitable for continuous patterns giving a striking design down the length of a room.

Our design team can work with you and will bring performance and style together to make your maintenance costs lower. Using different tile types, you can also section off different work areas, create walkway segmentation, office cubicles and library sections. Various departments on the same floor can be divided by using different colours or designs too.
